ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE COLOR ANALYSIS

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

WHAT IS THE COLOR ANALYSIS ?

The Color Analysis is a scientific tool that you can use to identify your "friend" colors (the ones that suit you best).

ITS PRINCIPLE

Its basic principle is that only colors that are in a harmonious relationship with your natural colors (ie your skin, eyes and hair) are able to make you stand out.

Using these colors in clothing and makeup, you will be more beautiful, you will look younger, your skin will appear more homogeneous and brighter.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION

During this test, your personal chromatic characteristics are studied, through evaluating the four properties of your natural colors:

temperature (undertone), intensity, value and contrast.

  • Color temperature (or undertone) can be cool or warm - warm colors have a yellow base (or undertone), cool colors have a blue base (see more about this here).

Exp: red-orange is a warm red, raspberry is a cool red.

  • The value of the color refers to its property of being lighter or darker.

Exp: lavender is a light color, purple is a dark color.

  • Color intensity or saturation refers to its purity.

Exp: fuchsia is an intense, pure color, and powder pink is a delicate, dusty color.

  • Color contrast refers to the relationship between colors with different values.

Exp: there is a high contrast between ivory and dark brown, there is a low contrast between red and fuchsia.

Well, the result of these 4 features’ evaluation will be … your color palette.

Why?

Because the colors of your palette are exactly the ones that have the same temperature and the same level of value, intensity and contrast as your natural colors !

THE "SEASONS" OF THE COLOR ANALYSIS

Not everyone wants to know the technical explanation above, so in order to simplify it, the results of this test, i.e. the resulting four categories (and their color palettes) are metaphorically called with the names of the four seasons:

  1. You are a WINTER if the complex made of skin-eyes-hair has cool and intense colors, like snow or the sky of a winter night.

EXP: a gorgeous brunette with a light pink complexion, like Megan Fox, will be highlighted by cool colors, because her skin has a cool undertone; by intense colors, which match the intensity of his personal colors and by an outfit with high contrast (exp. optical white top and royal blue skirt), which matches the high contrast between her natural colors. She is a Winter.

2. You are a SPRING if your natural chromatic characteristics are represented by warm and intense colors, similar to those in nature during spring.

EXP: Jessica Chastain is a gorgeous Spring, and she is at her best while wearing warm and intense colors, with a medium contrast between them.

3. You are a SUMMER if you are characterized by cool and less intense colors (soft), such as the color of the sea or sand in summer.

EXP: Same story, a delicate blonde like Michelle Pfeifer will be highlighted by cool, dusty colors and a low-contrast outfit. She is a Summer.

4. You are an AUTUMN if you have warm and soft colors, like the colors of autumn nature.

EXP: the change of look from "street" to "lady" that Julia Roberts had in "Pretty Woman" also came with outfits in the right colors - warm and soft, because she is an Autumn.

ATTENTION

This is a very simplified explanation (the details are for the color specialists), not every Winter looks like Meghan, not every Summer is a Michelle etc. Every “season” include a wide range of - persons that look very different, but are acommoned by the levels of the 4 indicators above.

AND AN OBSERVATION: your belonging to a certain "season" has nothing to do with the time of year, the fashion season or your birthday!

HOW IT'S DONE

The test is performed in the mirror, its interactive nature aims at revealing the effect of colors in a direct therefore convincing way.

It needs natural light and a clean, no makeup complexion. Without glasses, colored contact lenses, and if the hair is dyed, it will be covered with a white scarf (because it is very important to evaluate the natural colors, not the "acquired" ones).

Its rather simple method (using colored drapes and checking their aesthetic impact on the subject) is offset by the rather difficult evaluation - making the difference (especially about the undertone) needs an expert eye and therefore, even if you will find a lot of information online about this test, only a professional image consultant can correctly identify your friendly color palette.

ANYWAY, at the end of the test, you will be handed your color palette with the name of the season you belong to: Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter palette (plus the corresponding subcategory).

BENEFITS

Discovering and using your “friendly” color palette will improve (sometimes dramatically) your appearance and simplify your shopping sessions (you won't waste time and money on items that don't suit you). In addition, their long-term adoption will make your wardrobe more efficient (in general, the colors in a palette match each other).

DURATION OF ITS RESULTS

You belonging to one of these categories called seasons and the corresponding color palette will remain the same, it does not change throughout life.

Color analysis is thus a one-time investment in your personal aesthetic development, the result being one that you will benefit from all your life.

So, why wait? Book your color analysis NOW. You won't regret it.
